After 12 years
Finally, got myself a new cellphone. After using Nokia for 12 years, I finally decided to try other brands. Not that Nokia doesn’t do it for me anymore but I have got to try other brands.
I decided to buy a new cell ’cause my Nokia 7610 is old, and I mean O-L-D by cellphone years (much like dog years) by the pace cellphones have been popping out of nowhere, upgrading and stuff. You know what I mean! – you’ve watched TV!!!
Like every other primate – I started out with Nokia 3210 – very basic. Just a call and text phone. Sigh, those were the good ol’days. Uncomplicated and hassle free. My N3210 gave me 4 good years, we’ve been through drunk and fall nights, rainy days, and just plain-o clumsy days. He (yes, my N3210 was a HE) been dropped down stairs, thrown out on a drunken angry rampage – casing, battery and sim card all over the place but he never failed me. I finally retired my cell out of sheer pity. We did have so much memories between us that I would have kept him forever, but I figured he wouldn’t be serving his purpose in this world if I did that. Phones I used along the way were either second hand, or have been passed on to me by their previous master – moved on to more technologically advanced and enhanced phones that not all the cell’s features they’d be able to use. TV commercial victims.
Finally, one day – just out of the blue, my mom called and said somebody was interested in buying my old Nokia 7610. I’d never get another chance, so I just went ahead and sold the damned thing. Yes, it’s damned, damned with me as its owner.
I had a few days of frantic searching for a perfect phone. An organized approach was to list the qualities I wanted my new phone to have. first of all, it had to be sleek slim, I hate it when I go out and have to bring a bag just to have a place to stuff my humongous phone in. Big isn’t always good you know. Of course, phones nowadays should be equipped with an adequate camera and have a very good display. Nokia is very well know for its User-Friendly phones, well- 12 years of using that made my cellphone IQ pretty much the same level with grade school children. So choosing a Nokia-like interphase would suit me best. Of course, I always have to have a phone with bluetooth, a calendar, and a calculator. God knows im bad at Math. Now, the searching and reading of reviews online began. Brands were scrutinized, friends feedback and recommendations were heavily considered. I finally decided on Samsung. Samsung is very well known for its superb LCD displays, so I though any phone I would get with Samsung would hopefully have that technology in it. I considered slide and flip phones since I never owned that type of phone yet. I was considering Samsung SGH U600, SGH U700, SGH G800, SGH D900i, SGH D880. Campared them online, prices I though should be considered half-way. My mind should be clear from all distractions especially budget wise. I have to be happy with what phone I chose because I’d have to live with that decision for as long as that phone is alive. Comparing all specifications, I omitted phones which have features I wont be using and stuck to my list. Well, well. I finally got to my final two. Drumroll please! – Samsung SGH U600 and SGH U700. A short list of what features I like between them I listed below.
SGH U700
- Dual Camera
SGH U600
- Bigger built-in Memory
- FM Radio
Samsung SGH U600 won. I thought, I didn’t need the front camera anyway. Samsung U600 have got everything I want. Slide type, good display (large, full color), user friendly interphase, good phone camera (3.2mp), bluetooth, calendar, calculator and best of all – a sleek black matte slim finish. Just the way I like it. Pricewise – So worth it! Not that expensive is what I mean.
Me likey very mucho!
Of course a post wouldn’t be complete without pictures, ya think I forgot?

Nice phone you ended up with but aren’t the choices nowadays making the choice so difficult. When I got my new phone I had been through the same thing trying to decide, it wasn’t easy.
